ABOUT US...

The official site for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Kings County/SUNY Downstate. Established in 1992, the Department of Emergency Medicine is comprised of a team of dedicated physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals committed to providing medical care to the rich diversity of people in Brooklyn, New York. The SUNY Downstate/ Kings County EM resident is exposed to an unparalleled clinical training in a county hospital that serves a diverse, immigrant patient population. Through the varied pathology, critical medical and trauma care in adults and pediatrics, along with the exposure to an array of sub-specialties in emergency medicine, our residents graduate not only capable of working in a variety of clinical environments, but also possess leadership skills which make them competitive candidates for employment. Our residents are trained to become astute clinicians and academicians using evidenced-based medicine to build on their practice as emergency physicians. We are affiliated with the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, which produces the highest number of practicing physicians in the State of New York.
